TWO CONTINENTS – ONE TEAM!
We are a German-South African team, advocating for the children in the hotspots of the townships. Many of us live in the township themselves. All have long been professionally involved with children and youth or disadvantaged people in the African townships. Therefore, each one of us brings long-time experience, many competencies and a sustainable network to this project. With joint forces we want to support the children in the township and open new perspectives for them.
WHO WE ARE
FOUNDERS:
Biggi Hägemann, Ubomi Founder
Biggi is responsible for the fundraising and further development of Ubomi. It is her heartfelt desire to enable as many children as possible in the hotspots of the townships to have a life and a future.
Thomas Meisterknecht, Ubomi Founder
Thomas Meisterknecht, founder and manager of UBOMI, lives in Khayelitsha and is enthusiastic about change.
Kholeka Matiwane, Ubomi Founder
Khosi, founder and coordinator of UBOMI, lives in Khayelitsha and studies early childhood development.
BOARD:
Bulelani Mvoto, Ubomi Board
Independent filmmaker, owner of the township cinema Snapshot, lives in the township Khayelitsha with his family.
Filbert Mushiringi, Ubomi Board
Science and technology specialist, teaches children in the townships with passion and gets them excited about the extraordinary in science and technology.
Ntokozo Magadla, Ubomi Board
Works in the media and television sector and is a children’s book author. As a child, she herself received great support by a social project and wants to pass this on to the children in the hotspots of the townships.
Simphiwe Mahlanyana, Ubomi Board
Sim is a youth coach and involved and active in projects of cultural diversity.
Zodwa Ngolo, Ubomi Board
graduated from the University of Cape Town with a degree in Law and Social Sciences, with focus on Gender and Women’s Studies, Sociology und Politics. Her passion is devoted to the development of communities.
